The 158th winner of the St Leger, held on Wednesday 13th September 1933 over 1 mile 6 furlongs and 132 yards of Town Moor, was Hyperion, a chestnut colt by Gainsborough out of Selene, owned by the 7th Earl of Derby. A field of 14 runners contested the race which was worth £6,500. (Equivalent to £418,000 in 2017)
